Doppo Kunikida’s Former Residence
A famous Japanese novelist, Doppo Kunikida, spent 2 years (1892-1894) in his early twenties in this house. His desk and favorite moon guitar are displayed here. You can feel the nostalgic atmosphere once you enter this tranquil house. His novels, "Kodomo no kanashimi (A Child's Sorrow)" and "Okimiyage (Parting Gift)" took place in Yanai. *You connot actually go inside and take a tour. It can only be viewed from outside.

Espalier Kagetsu
Customers can choose fresh cakes from the showcase and enjoy them together with conversation in the café corner inside the store. Espalier Kagetsu offers an array of sweets made using local ingredients. These Japanese and Western-style sweets, created with sweet-making skills and craftsmanship that has been selected as a “Contemporary Master Craftsman” by the Japanese government, are recommended as souvenirs of your trip to Yanai.

We are a confectionary shop selling our original sweets using unique local ingredients, such as Kanro Joyu (vintage soy sauce) and Jinenjo (Japanese wild yam). Many other fresh cakes using highest quality whipped cream, and Japanese sweet called "Doppo" named after Mr. Doppo Kunikida, the great novelist in modern Japan, are our popular lines. This outlet is located near Yanai City Hall.

Fujiyama Coffee Roasters Midorigaoka Library Branch
This coffee shop is located inside Yanai Municipal Midorigaoka Library. Between 11am and 3pm, light meals are also available here. If you use a cup with a lid, drinks are permitted everywhere within the library facility. This shop provides eco-friendly cups for using in the library (must be returned after use).

Fujiyama Coffee Roasters Yanai Shirakabe Branch
“Fujiyama Coffee Roasters Yanai Shirakabe Branch” is located in the Shirakabe historical district, selected as a Nationally-Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings in 1984. Branch-exclusive drinks and seasonally-limited “kakigori” (shaved ice) are available here. With around 10 seats, customers can take a relaxing break from walking around the Shirakabe historical district. The branch also stocks a variety of Yanai souvenirs, including Yanai-branded products and artworks by Yanai handmade artists. Please feel free to visit as a break in your stroll around Shirakabe, or for some souvenirs of Yanai.

Fukei-ji Temple
Fukei-ji temple is said to be the oldest temple in Yanai City. You can enjoy Cherry Blossoms in Spring and the changing colours of the leaves of a giant Ginkgo tree in Autumn. The giant Ginkgo tree stands tall overlooking the main hall of the temple. It is a sight to see when the leaves on the widespread branches of the giant Ginkgo tree turn gold.
