Koudai-ji Temple (Wan Wan Dera)

This uniquely-shaped 2-story temple gate was built in China's Ming Dynasty style and has been known for its interesting resonating sound through a large space inside the white plastered tunnel. If you clap your hands under the tunnel-like gate, the echo sounds like "Wan Wan", so many local people have been calling the temple "Wan Wan Dera". Kurokuigawa Dam Commemorative Park

Many cherry trees, azaleas and other flowers are planted in this park, which was created at the same time as the construction of the dam in the upper reaches of the Kurokuigawa River. The elegant sight of petals floating on the surface of the water can be seen during the blooming season. Located along the road from Kuga Interchange toward Central Yanai City, the park is also close to the flagship store of Kashinoki confectionary, so visitors can enjoy shopping for souvenirs after seeing the flowers.

Merchant Town Yanai Hina Doll Tour

Held in February and March, from the Shirakabe historic district to Retoro-dori street. The Hina dolls that have been handed down within the families of Shirakabe will be on display during this period. A variety of charming Hina dolls can be seen, including handmade dolls and some that date back as far as the Meiji period.

Midorigaoka Library

Midorigaoka Library is a composite library facility that combines four functions: a library, support for civic activities, support for child-raising, and disaster prevention. A range of activities, including interpersonal exchange, hands-on experiences, learning, and transmission of information, all take place in one building. In addition, the library is equipped with spaces for lively communication as well as quiet spaces. Conversation can be enjoyed in the café area and the children’s library area. The building also includes 10 rooms referred to as “studios”, which can be used for hosting lectures and workshops, or reserved for private use.

Muroya is a trade name of the Oda Family who prospered as oil merchant in Edo Period. Later they became one of the most wealthy merchant houses in western Japan. Obatake Fureai Beach

This is an artificial bathing beach, 160 meters long, and very popular among people in Yanai. You can enjoy the stunning view of the Oshima Long Bridge and Yashiro Oshima Island. The beach is easily accessible from Route 188. During the Niwaka Festival from September to October, a famous portable shrine is carried into the sea from this beach.
